Spark! 2018 will bring together some of Australia’s leading minds to solve priority problems together. It’s also an opportunity for you to contribute to the ever-expanding conversation on Australia’s energy transition.
Spark! is MEFL’s cornerstone event and is being held on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 September. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from our inaugural conference in 2016 and we are delighted to be convening it again.
The overall theme of Spark! 2018 is the threefold challenge we face to balance the need to lower emissions, the need for a secure and reliable grid and the need to ensure a just transition, so the most vulnerable in our society are not left behind. All three must be addressed for a balanced economic, energy and social transition.
Centred around the Brunswick Town Hall with satellite locations within walking distance to host the streams across the two days, the program is now available. Conference streams will include discussions on policy and advocacy, overcoming the barriers to solar, tackling energy poverty, community energy, local leadership and the future state of the grid.

The program and venue details are now available on the Spark! Conference website.
Lots to talk about
It has been an extraordinary two years in the energy sector – rising energy prices and carbon emissions, grid security concerns and the future of energy management – so there is certainly plenty to discuss. In response to feedback from the last conference, Spark! 2018 will consist of two streams focusing on both the community and industry sectors, addressing a broad range of topics. Once again, most workshop sessions will be run twice to enable maximum attendance.
We will be joined at Spark! 2018 by some of the industry’s most innovative and progressive experts. The program is being developed and we have some fantastic conference streams planned. Streams will include discussions on policy and advocacy, overcoming the barriers to solar, tackling energy policy, community energy, local leadership and the future state of the grid. We’ll be sharing more information soon, so keep watching this space.
One thing remains certain, MEFL is uniquely placed to host an event of this nature given our respected place in the industry, our independent not for profit status, and our multi-disciplinary collaborative approach.
Put it in your diary and tell your friends and colleagues – the countdown to Spark! 2018 is on.
