Moreland goes mega

More than one megawatt of solar power capacity has been installed in the City of Moreland through MEFL’s Positive Charge team this financial year. This is more than double the result for 2016/17, when Positive Charge installed 439 kilowatts across Moreland, and the first time this milestone has been realised in a financial year.

This milestone has been achieved by action from households, community groups, schools and businesses across Moreland.

It has been made possible by:

  • Positive Charge’s Solar for Business service – this has supported eight non-residential organisations to install solar this year. These include Conga foods (458 kilowatts), Foundation House (63 kilowatts) and Belle Vue Park Primary School, Glenroy (30 kilowatts).
  • Availability of Environmental Upgrade Agreements (EUAs) – two local businesses have used this new funding stream from Moreland Council to install solar (and other energy efficiency upgrades) at no upfront cost.
  • A solar mailout from the Moreland’s Mayor to over 15,000 households, with an accompanying campaign by Positive Charge.

We’re proud of this achievement and look forward to installing even more next year!
