Local energy consumption data

MEFL has developed a Municipal Energy Consumption Tool for NAGA to build a municipal energy use profile. It provides a profile of energy use by suburb for households and business across the municipality. Year to year comparisons can show changing patterns of energy use for households and on a per capita basis. Business and industry energy use and trends over time and place can also be viewed through the tool.

Sustainable Urban Development Framework

Urban developments built now and into the future will have a lasting effect on the sustainability of our cities. However competing pressures can make delivery of truly sustainable development difficult to achieve.

During 2010-11, MEFL developed the Sustainable Urban Development Framework (SUDF) to help project managers, urban planners, and developers embed sustainability features throughout development projects.

Fridge timers save!

Businesses with drinks fridges can save money and emissions

A simple plug-in timer can save money and greenhouse gas emissions by turning off the fridge overnight.

The fridge temperature only rises a few degrees during the night and quickly returns to normal in the morning.

MEFL has a free program for businesses in the Moreland area.

More information on our our Fridge Timer Program page.

A study by the Moreland Energy Foundation for Sustainability Victoria, May 2010.

MEFL is undertaking a consulting contract with Sustainability Victoria. The research project is gathering information about the energy efficiency of existing Victorian houses. The study so far has given us a better understanding of just how inefficient Melbourne's older houses are, what needs to be done to improve them, and how much it might cost.
