Moreland Community to take part in Walk Against Warming

October 30, 2007

Join with other Moreland residents and like-minded people to make your voice heard as we travel as a community to the State Library to join the Walk Against Warming.

Travel in to the State Library by Tram, Train or Bike and join with thousands of other people on this historic walk.

Meet at 12:pm on November 11th at Victoria St Mall, Coburg or Brunswick Town Hall, Brunswick (see www.mefl.com.au for more details) and let everyone know that our community wants bolder and more effective government action on climate change!

Even though ordinary Aussies across the country are pitching in to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions, this simply isn't enough to stop climate change globally. We need governments, industries and communities to work together, so we can see real reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Demonstrate to our political leaders that Australians are deeply concerned about global warming, by joining the Walk Against Warming!

In 2007 Walk Against Warming will highlight the need for legislation to be put in place that will reduce Australia's greenhouse pollution, through:

  • A reduction in energy use
  • Increased energy efficiency
  • A shift to renewable energy
  • Better public transport systems
  • An end to land clearing and logging of old growth forests
  • A price being placed on carbon pollution
  • Deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions
  • Together we can tackle climate change, for the future of our planet, our children and our grandchildren.
