Sustainable Transport Mini-Fest
March 10, 2005
A fun community event will showcase sustainable transport options and initiatives in Moreland. The Sustainable Transport Mini-Fest will include cycling workshops by local experts, prizes and giveaways and a presentation from GoGet, Australias founding carshare company.
The Mini-Fest is part of the Transport Comets project, a joint initiative of the Moreland Energy Foundation Ltd (MEFL), Environment Victoria and Vox Bandicoot that aims to increase the uptake of sustainable transport in Moreland. Greenhouse gas emissions from car usage are a significant contributor to climate change, and the Mini-Fest will show that there are cleaner, greener ways to get around town such as walking, cycling, participating in carshare programs and catching public transport.
The festivities will kick off with a live performance by Captain Smogbuster at 1:30pm. Festival goers are encouraged to bring their bikes along and look through the CERES Bike Shed, which provides spare parts and recycled bikes at low cost. Cyclists can then take part in a group ride that will depart CERES at the close of the festival.
The Mini-Fest will be held at CERES Community Environment Park, 8 Lee St East Brunswick from 1:30pm 4pm, Sunday 13th March.
