Moreland Community Leaders on Climate Change Workshop a great success
December 10, 2007
On friday 7th December close to 50 representatives from organisations, schools, community groups and local businesses in Moreland came together to talk about climate change and what we could all do.
The day was organised by Moreland City Council in partnership with Village Well, CERES and the Moreland Energy Foundation.
The day was started with a presentation about climate change by Gilbert Rochecouste who was trained to deliver Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth slide show.
We then heard from a number of groups in Moreland about what they are already doing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and respond to climate change.
Moreland certainly is an active community and the organisers were impressed by the knowledge, commitment and actions that groups and organisation have already taken! A survey of participants found that things people were already doing included:
After lunch attendees brainstormed what we could do to achieve further changes in our workplaces and community. This information is being collated and will be a valuable resource for the Moreland Community.
If you missed out on the day don't despair! Keep your eye out for further workshops and gatherings in the New Year. We are wanting the whole of Moreland to get involved!
