This session will introduce the context and tools that support the Sustainable Design in the Planning Process (SDAPP). It is designed specifically for Council practitioners to provide an understanding of SDAPP and the importance of this program to Councils, residents, developers and other stakeholders.

This is a hands-on workshop designed to learn how to use the Sustainable Tools for Environmental Performance Strategy (STEPS) and Sustainable Design Scorecard (SDS) tools and understand their role in assisting planning applications. The sustainability and regulatory context for STEPS and SDS will be clarified, alongside an analysis of relevant VCAT decisions.
