VISION

Moreland Energy Foundation is working to achieve a working model of sustainability.

On a day-to-day basis we work with households, businesses and the wider community in Moreland, in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. We:

  • give free advice to help people stop wasting energy
  • promote ideas that make homes and buildings warmer in winter and cooler in summer, without the use of energy
  • help people understand that the energy they use makes greenhouses gas that causes climate change
  • work in partnership with like-minded bodies to increase our reach into the community and increase resources available for our work
  • talk to government about things they can do to make it easier for people to use less energy
  • undertake research to better understand what causes wasteful energy use and what the solutions might be
  • MEFL also aims to meet community needs with other sustainability issues (such as water) and to help promote a better community through bringing people together.

    Company Constitution:
MEFL'S objectives are detailed in the Company Constitution. A Constitution summary is provided below; visit the About Us Resources page to download the entire Constitution document.

The Moreland Energy Foundation promotes protection of the environment by reducing greenhouse emissions through:

  • Actively promoting community awareness of the need to minimise greenhouse gas emissions and maximise energy efficiency through exposure to the Foundation's activities and initiatives
  • Promoting the use of greenhouse friendly and energy efficient domestic, commercial and industrial appliances
  • Encouraging the incorporation of energy efficiency features in new greenhouse-friendly technologies through programs including education, subsidies and best practice
  • Facilitating the development of local energy management and renewable energy technologies and expertise
  • Facilitating research into new energy efficient technologies that will assist in reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Increasing the number of energy-efficiency audits and monitor efficiency improvements undertaken by local households, businesses and other organisations
  • Developing and analysing data regarding energy consumption so as to prioritise activities of the greatest environmental benefit.
  • FUNDING

MEFL receives most of its funding from the Moreland City Council, which has a commitment to fund MEFL until the end of July 2010. Other funds are generated through applying for Government grants. We also provide services outside of Moreland on a fee for service basis.
