Chair & Board
Responsibilities:
The highest decision-making body within MEFL is the Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for ensuring good corporate governance and taking a strategic view to guide MEFL's activities.
Selection process:
Board members are nominated in different ways. Moreland Council has responsibility for nominating a Councillor and a Council officer to the Board. The members of MEFL elect another member. The CEO is a member of the Board. The additional four positions are filled by the Board based on a skills and qualities-based selection process.
Constitution:
MEFL is a company limited by guarantee, which means that the Company Constitution provides the rules under which the organization must operate.

Mike Hill, Chair of MEFL
Mike has a long history of working with the community in Moreland. As part of his particular interest in energy issues Mike helped establish MEFL and has always been its Chairperson. Mike was Moreland City Council's first Mayor and is a past Mayor of Brunswick C.C. (amalgamated into the Moreland C.C. in 1994). Before amalgamation the Brunswick council under Mike's direction owned its own electricity supply company (the Brunswick Electricity Supply Department) which performed ground-breaking work on energy. Mike is currently involved in WestWyck, an eco-housing development project using the site and buildings of the former West Brunswick Primary school.
